About Cricket
What is Cricket?
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 22-yard pitch with a wicket at each end. The game is played in over 100 countries and is one of the world's most popular sports.
The objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. A run is scored when the batsman hits the ball and runs between the wickets, or when the ball crosses the boundary line.
The Cricket Pitch
